Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Casting Team Leader assists and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in the Casting cell utilizing a wide freedom to act in driving activities to completion by energizing and engaging people in the area. Shift hours are either 6am-4:30 (1st shift), or 8pm-6:30am (3rd shift). Starting hourly rate from $22.50, with shift premiums! After 90 days, the hourly rate will increase to $23.50.

SUMMARY: A Caster Operator will operate a VRC/PRC, permanent mold, or other production equipment used to form aluminum castings and to process them as directed by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Role model for EHS and Quality performance – and enforces these issues with fellow associates. Ensure proper tagging of all product containers and racks. Ensure that applicable quality alerts / purges are posted at the casting cell and that direct reports are properly informed. Relieve operators as needed. Closely monitor scrap and rate – instruct operator, correct issue, pull help chain as needed. Meet with assigned crew frequently throughout the day to discuss quality issues, productivity objectives, etc. Ensure all paperwork is in order (daily inspections, checklists, scrap tracking, downtime tracking, etc.).Monitor x-ray throughput and correct issue or pull help chain for issues. Communicate with adjacent shift Team Leader to ensure smooth transition and that all issues are addressed. Strong working knowledge of the process. Responsible for overseeing training and acknowledgment of training completion of assigned line. Work on continuous improvement within assigned area (process flow, efficiency gains, 5S, quality, safety, etc.).Ensure proper 5S in assigned areas. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have experience leading people preferably in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to read and understand work instructions. Must be able to write and complete required paperwork. Must have basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Must be knowledgeable of Quality systems. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be team-oriented, able to problem-solve and troubleshoot

This position is in the production area which may include seasonally hot and humid conditions, dust, noise and other elements for extended periods of time.
