POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Supervisor will demonstrate leadership in directing and motivating the workforce to produce products of high quality in the most efficient & safe manner & ensure that scheduling meets business demands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Drive and initiate continuous improvement activities to improve safety performance.
  2. Drive and initiate continuous improvement activities to increase OA, Rate and reduce Scrap Rate.
  3. Optimize the material flow to eliminate waste and increase efficiency.
  4. Understands how his/her job contributes to profitability.
  5. Lead by example and demonstrate involvement over control.
  6. Prompt team effort and treat people with dignity and respect.
  7. Initiate, seek and welcome change.
  8. Eliminate waste by rapidly solving problems at their source.
  9. Examine materials and products at all stages of processing for conformance to customer specifications.
  10. Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to fulfill the requirements to ensure on-time delivery.
  11. Work closely with all departments to ensure production, melt, maintenance, and other departments are collaborating to meet common goal.
  12. Aggressively pursue OEE improvements by:
    1. Thoroughly investigating any recurring down time issues or any down time that is more than 20 minutes.
    2. Relentlessly pursuing the rate target.
  13. Study production schedules and make appropriate manpower requirements.
  14. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  15. Coach direct reports, assist in problem solving, and hold people accountable.
  16. Schedule, approve and submit employee timecard records using the Plex.
  17. Enforce safety standards and ensure employees are working in a safe manner.
  18. All other job duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform PRIMARY COMPETENCIES:

  1. 3 years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing setting.
  2. Strong leadership skills.
  3. Thorough knowledge of all manufacturing methods, techniques, and related equipment.
  4. Must be able to read, write and complete required paperwork.
  5. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  6. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Must have strong interpersonal skills.
  8. Knowledge of production scheduling.
  9. Organized, self-motivated and self-directed.
  10. Ability to manage multiple priorities/tasks.
  11. Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  12. Must have Molten Metal Safety knowledge.
  13. Must have knowledge of solidification principles.
  14. Must have knowledge of casting defects categories and detection methods.
  15. Excellent attendance and safety record.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Production employees in Cast, X-Ray, Heat Treat, FPI, Die Prep, Material Handling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates within a casting facility. Ability to work in conditions which may include seasonal hot and humid conditions, dust, noise and other elements for extended periods of time. Must be able to navigate production floor. Time will be spent in an office environment primarily when creating correspondence, reports, approval of timecards, and scheduling. Computers, phones, and photocopiers are the main office equipment used.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with on-site scheduled hours Monday through Friday.
