Job Summary: Reporting to the Purchasing and Materials Planning Manager, the Production Control Scheduler is responsible for scheduling production equipment and working with customers to ensure the timely delivery of products.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create weekly casting, X-ray, Heat Treat and FPI schedules that will meet the daily customer requirements.
  • Provide all relevant departments with schedules, data and information needed to meet customer demands.
  • Review EDI and other customer schedules/requirements to understand upcoming volumes and needs for the customer including helping maintain MRP/ERP system to ensure accuracy.
  • Work as a team to ensure minimum interruption to customers as specified by customers.  This includes and is not limited to EDI setup, problem solving and shipping discrepancies.
  • Provide accurate reports to management.
  • Analyze PRP/MRD system and problem solve.
  • Check and load releases.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts and update manager.
  • Aid shipping/receiving department regarding customer inquiries.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of weekly, monthly and future capacity to optimize product level loading and achieve manufacturing continuity during low and high-volume months.
  • Perform cycle count activities when asked by manager to help team ensure the inventory is accurate.
  • Participate on continuous improvement teams assigned by manager.
  • Work with customers to resolve issues.
  • 5s work area.
  • Assist with year-end activities – inventory and ACCUMS adjustment.
  • Follow all safety and environmental guidelines for the plant.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to gather, interpret and analyze information.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of quality control systems and standards.
  • Ability to take initiative, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of Inventory Control.
  • Understand export, import, NAFTA regulations and the paperwork that goes along with this.
  • Ability of prioritize.
  • Must be able to write and complete required paperwork.
  • Must have basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None

Education and Experience:

  • 3 + years proven experience as production planner, preferably in automotive setting.
  • Experience with MS Office and MRP/ERP systems (Plex) and help to maintain the system when errors occur.
  • Knowledge of purchasing and expediting.

Work Environment:

                This job operates within a casting facility.  Ability to work in conditions which may include seasonal hot and humid conditions, dust, noise and other elements for extended periods of time.  Must be able to navigate production floor.   Time will be spent in an office environment primarily when creating correspondence, reports, approval of timecards, and scheduling.  Computers, phones, and photocopiers are the main office equipment used. 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time, exempt position.  This job operates in a professional office environment.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.  Time spent on production floor may also be necessary for completing certain aspects of position thus exposure to seasonally hot and humid conditions, dust, noise and other elements will occur.
